It’s never too early to instill a love for music and to make music an intentional and integral part of your child’s day.

Teachers, do you find yourself searching the depths of the internet for the best preschool music themes and songs? Do you find yourself repeating the same few songs and activities over and over? Do you get in a rut when it comes time to plan lessons?

What is the Preschool Music Treasure Box?
The Preschool Music Treasure Box is a curated collection of songs appropriate for toddlers and preschoolers. Each month is centered around a particular theme and musical concept. There are related stories to go along with the theme. The content is meant to be used in either a one-on-one or group setting.
What's inside the Preschool Music Treasure Box?
  • A printable overview of the theme to give you a snapshot of all of the selected material
  • A list of songs by a variety of artists to add to your preschool music playlist. This list will always contain energetic, movement-based songs; calming, quieter songs; and a few classical music selections.
  • A Spotify playlist containing that month's song selection.
  • A list of appropriate stories that complement the theme and activities.
  • A selection of super easy-to-sing songs and rhymes. For each song, you'll be able to access lyrics, printable lead sheets, and 2-3 different applications for use. When necessary, you'll find demonstration videos to show you how to sing or implement the song.
  • A specific musical concept to teach children that will prepare them for future music education, or give them a skill that they can try out at the piano or other instruments.
  • Access to the current month's theme, plus all other themes published in the Treasure Box.
What sort of songs are on the playlists?
I always aim to select music that the whole family will enjoy. I stay away from songs that adults would find baby-ish and annoying and instead only select music from high-quality children's artists that even the parents can get into. I often draw from music that is kid-friendly but not necessarily written for kids. I make it a huge priority to include classical music so that children and their parents are exposed to the rich tradition of music.
What sort of storybooks are involved?
I select stories that many families already have at home or that are easy to find in public libraries. I also try to include a couple of less-common titles in case you're hoping to expand your children's book library or try something new. Some of the books included in the past have been things like "Where The Wild Things Are" by Maurice Sendak, "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" by Eric Carle, and "Little Blue Truck" by Alice Schertle.
What supplies do I need?
You may want a printer, but it's not necessary. I find it unnecessary to purchase a lot of extra books and supplies for preschool music, so my suggestions generally include minimal props or instruments. I'd recommend having a small collection of scarves, egg shakers, bells, rhythm sticks, and other similar instruments, but with young children, it's often true that less is more.
Where can I find the music?
Most of the music can be found on whatever streaming service you want to use. There is also a Spotify playlist with the music for that month's theme.
Do I need musical knowledge?
I find songs that are super simple to sing so that parents and teachers don't have to spend time learning music and memorizing lyrics - they're based on familiar tunes like "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" or "The Wheels On The Bus." For other songs, I include lead sheets with chords in the key of C so that someone with minimal music knowledge can play along on the piano, guitar, or ukulele. I keep musical concepts and skills very basic so that any adult can understand and facilitate learning - even without a musical background yourself!
Do the themes ever repeat?
At this point, there are enough themes for over a year's worth of content. More will continue to be added. Themes may be repeated in the future but it will likely be at intervals of over a year or more.
When is new content added?
A new theme is added by the 10th of every month.
How long do I have access to this?
You'll have access as long as your membership is active. I only leave three months' worth of content at a time available in the membership. You can download and keep the materials.
How long does this membership last?
This is a reoccurring monthly membership. You can cancel your membership at any time.

For teachers, there is more than enough material in the Treasure Box to create a month’s worth of weekly preschool music lesson plans. Many teachers find that they can even stretch the themes out to last for 2 months. As you’re creating your weekly lesson plans, just plug in your favorite ideas from the Treasure Box and supplement with your own tried and true activities.

For parents, you’ll have all of the best ideas at your fingertips to integrate plenty of at-home music ideas into your daily routine. Simply pick a couple of stories and songs to use with your child on a regular basis, and return to the Treasure Box when you need a new idea. Add new suggested songs to your playlist so that your child is always exposed to more musical styles and songs.

I’m really picky when it comes to selecting music and activities for the littlest musicians. I want to keep things super simple for the grown-ups and give kids the best possible music experience.

Everything is presented in a clear, easy-to-read format.
