The ocean is a great topic for exploration and learning with preschool students. With its sandy shores, playful waves, and fascinating underwater creatures, the ocean is like a giant sensory playground and a place of endless wonder! Even if we cannot physically travel to the ocean, there are so many songs, storybooks, and art inspired by the ocean that can help capture a child’s imagination.
I’ve put together an ocean-themed lesson plan that puts some of the best of these resources together.

Find the Ocean Theme Lesson Plan in my Teachers Pay Teachers store.
These lesson plans were designed for a movement-based preschool music class. There are enough activities and songs (10 total) to last approximately 30 minutes. All of the activities encourage kids to develop in areas such as coordination, literacy, cognitive skills, creativity and more.
I have a talent for creating straightforward lesson plans, making it easy to share plans that are effortless for you to implement. I often incorporate piggyback songs with catchy tunes and simple lyrics, so you won’t need to learn many new songs to teach your class.
You can find my ocean-themed lesson plan in my TeachersPayTeachers store. Here is what you can expect to find in the lesson plan:
- Songs, rhymes, and activities all with a specific ocean theme
- Specific instructions on how to lead these 10 activities with kids ages 0-5
- Songs and chants with printable sheet music or lyric pages
- Fun and relevant songs to add to your preschool music playlist
- Ocean-themed book recommendations
- Activities are ordered perfectly to keep kids engaged and interested throughout a 30-minute class
