“Loud and Soft” is the next installment of my ongoing series of preschool lesson plans focusing on specific music concepts:

This plan will help students:
- Learn the concept of dynamics in music
- Differentiate between loud and soft sounds
- Respond with creative expression to loud and soft music
- Have fun while learning these concepts!
So if you’re looking for enjoyable and interactive activities, the Loud and Soft Preschool Lesson Plan might be the perfect resource for you! My music lesson plans last for around 30 minutes but can be customized to meet your specific requirements and schedule. One example of an activity in the lesson plan is listening to Hallelujah Chorus from Handel’s Messiah. After handing out scarves to the students, I have them wave scarves up high with big movements during loud sections, while waving them lower and slower in softer sections. It’s simple, but very effective!
What is in the lesson plan?
- A list of simple materials (most of which you probably already have)
- A selection of songs to add to your playlist
- Detailed instructions for carrying out ten dynamic activities
- Storybook recommendations that tie into the theme of the lesson
- Sheet music with lyrics, notations, and chord symbols
