The Rocking Song is the cutest little sing-along song to use with preschoolers. It’s just one simple line of music and there’s a place in the lyrics to sing each child’s names as they take turns rocking.
This is a fun song to sing while rocking in a rocking chair.
When we sing it in class, I’ve brought my kids’ little child-sized rocking chair to the class and let each child take a turn rocking in the chair as we sing the verse with their name in it.
In this case, we used it as a hello song since it was a way to greet each student.
It would also be really fun to use a rocking horse in the place of the rocking chair.
You can also sing this song while each child sits with their caregiver. They can rock together with the child on the adult’s lap. The adult can even lift the child up for a little surprise at the end.
Here are the lyrics to The Rocking Song:
Rocking, rocking, rocking to and fro,
Rocking, rocking look at Sophie go!
