One of my favorite ways to begin preschool music class is with a hello song that helps every child feel seen. The Good Morning Train Is Coming has become one of my go-to opening songs because it’s simple, familiar, and gives every child a chance to hear their own name.

Since the melody is sung to She’ll Be Coming Around the Mountain, most teachers can learn it in just a few minutes. Preschoolers love pretending to be trains, shouting “Choo, choo!”, and eagerly waiting to hear when the train “stops” at their name.
Whether you teach preschool music, lead circle time, homeschool your children, or simply want a fun way to start the day, this easy hello song is sure to become a classroom favorite.
Here are the lyrics:
The good morning train is coming, how are you? (choo, choo!)
The good morning train is coming, how are you? (choo, choo!)
The good morning train is coming, the good morning train is coming,
The good morning train is coming, how are you? (choo, choo!)
Let’s say hello to Logan, how are you? (choo, choo!)
Let’s say hello to Ella, how are you? (choo, choo!)
Let’s say hello to Liam, let’s say hello to Paul,
Let’s say hello to Sophie, how are you? (choo, choo!)
