I have a really cute preschool song to share with you today!
If You’re Going To The Moon is a piggyback song to the tune of If You’re Happy And You Know It. It’s a great one to get kids imaginations soaring.
I use this song in my Sun, Moon, Stars and Space lesson plan.
Here are the lyrics:
If you’re going to the moon, wear your boots!
If you’re going to the moon, wear your boots!
If you’re going to the moon, this is what you have to do.
If you’re going to the moon, wear your boots!
Other verses:
If you’re going to the moon, wear your helmet…
If you’re going to the moon, wear your gloves…
When I sing this song with my preschoolers, I like to have them add motions. We either pretend to be putting on our space gear with each verse. Or, we add motions that correspond with the space gear, for example, stomping for boots and waving with gloves.
This is also a good song to let your students get creative and think of what else is needed for going to the moon.
