I’d like to share with you a fun and easy song with actions to teach preschoolers. This song can be found in my The Mitten Lesson Plan, a music lesson plan based on the beloved children’s storybook by Jan Brett. This is a very simple activity that can be used on its own or incorporated into many different thematic settings.
The lyrics are as follows:
A wise old owl lived in an oak,
The more he saw, the less he spoke
The less he spoke, the more he heard,
Now, wasn’t he a wise old bird?
You can add gestures to this simple rhyme:
Spread your arms hand for “oak”
Point to your eyes or make circles around your eyes for “saw”
Point to your mouth for “spoke”
Point to your ear for “heard”
Point to your head for “wise”
I hope your students will enjoy this activity!
