Are you looking for creative ways to teach musical concepts, such as scales, to young children? This easy activity encourages students to “visualize” the notes of a scale.
This activity can be found in my High and Low Lesson Plan, part of a series of lesson plans that focus on specific musical concepts in ways that young children can understand.
Teach your students to sing up and down a scale using solfege. You could use the traditional hand motions or simply have students move their hands from low near the ground to up high above their head, following the shape of the scale as they sing each pitch.
